AdceteRIO: Collaboration, Creative Exercises, and Cutthroat Competition

The lower hemisphere may be plagued with Zika and Brazil may be in the middle of its greatest recession in a century, but AdceteRIO 2016 is staying the course. Lanes will be oiled, balls will be bowled, and expertly designed flags will be flown at the second-ever Adcetera office Olympics.

We’ve been preparing for this: eating communal Craisins, jogging Heights Boulevard in mid-July Houston heat, and making multiple well-intentioned attempts at forming an intra-office racquetball tournament. But when the time comes, the only thing that will matter — the only thing that will be remembered — is the cleverness of the team names.

We’re ad folks, not athletes.* But that doesn’t make us any less competitive.

We’re going to have a field day. (No seriously, “Field Day” is on the schedule this August.)

And once the games commence and the medals are awarded, those of us not taking premeditated sick days will limp back into the office and channel those Olympic-level talents into award-winning advertising work to the beat of our own anthemic morning announcement music.

* Some of the “randomly generated” teams feature former collegiate-level athletes. Others do not.
